Fugro USA Marine Hydrographic Services is a premier provider of high-resolution hydrographic and seabed mapping services. The Hydrographer is responsible for conducting LIDAR- and/or MBES-based hydrographic surveys in accordance with project requirements and company procedures. Which includes installing, calibrating, and operating survey systems, processing systems, and peripheral sensors, including tide gauges and GPS equipment.  Responsibilities also include quality control of acquired survey data, data processing, and reporting.

Job Requirements:

  • Participate in the acquisition and processing of hydrographic survey data (MBES and/or LiDAR) and associated support data (aerial photography, tide, and GPS), including the monitoring of data quality, the calculation of results, and the development of conclusions and recommendations.

  • Support the installation and calibration of survey equipment onboard vessels or aircraft of opportunity.

  • Preparation and delivery of data, charts, survey reports, and other mapping products to support a project.

  • Ensure that quality control and safety procedures/work instructions are always followed.

  • As required, travel domestically and internationally to support hydrographic survey projects.

Job Requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States, without restrictions.

  • Must have a driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle record.

  • Possess or able to obtain a valid US passport

  • Have a Bachelor's Degree or higher in Surveying, Geomatics, or related discipline.

  • Possess 1 or more years of experience conducting hydrographic or LIDAR surveys.

  • Have knowledge of hydrographic data analysis tools (e.g. Caris HIPS/SIPS) and/or LIDAR data analysis tools (e.g. Global Mapper, TerraScan, LASTools)

  • Have knowledge of GPS processing software (e.g. POSPac, TGO)

  • Knowledge of GIS and CAD software (e.g. ArcGIS, QGIS)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
