Dear THSOA Family,

On behalf of the THSOA Committee it is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of our Dear Friend and Colleague Brian Edwards.

“I first met Brian when he was running operations for Maridan, a Danish AUV company. It was impressive to watch him take charge over there and no doubt a legacy of his exemplary career in mine countermeasures in the South African Navy and later managing the De Beers vessels and operations. Some years later it was obvious to us both we wanted to work together and eventually, Brian and his family moved to Texas and became citizens where he joined the team at Harvey-Lynch. Brian was one of these people who could be conducting 12 evolutions simultaneously and not miss a beat between any of them. He was also a master of working around practical solutions. This is a man that will be sadly missed and leaves a huge gap in our industry.” - Phil Howells, Oceanscan

“Brian Edwards joined the DOF Subsea team in 2011 as Technical Manager. He came to DOF with an already exceptional and established track record in innovation and integration of survey software systems, and in the following 6 years he was the driving force of technical developments and refinements of many of the technologies utilized in DOF’s survey and positioning group.  Brian made an equally significant contribution to the support of our subsea operations and engineering groups to which he regularly provided specialist expertise and support.  In recent years Brian excelled in the additional role of Asset Manager due to his keen attention to detail, commitment to excellence for every project, and unparalleled customer service.  Suffice it to say that there was not a single area of our business to which Brian did not bring his considerable talent and enthusiasm. Brian was an innovator, a highly efficient problem solver, and a greatly valued and loyal member of the DOF team who played a crucial role in the growth, development and success of DOF’s business. His passing is a great loss to both DOF Subsea and the industry as a whole, and he will be very much missed by his colleagues and peers.” - Sarah Dwerryhouse, DOF Subsea

Brian is survived by his wife Charmaine, daughter Claire and sons Mathew and Connor. Memorial service for Brian will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 2:00pm at the address below. Brian’s children have requested that anyone attending the service to wear “red” to express the love for their father.
