A presentation on the 2019 Atlantis 4D Ocean Bottom Node and Wolfspar seismic survey.  The survey comprised of one node deployment vessel, two source boats and one vessel for towing the Wolfspar device. Wolfspar is a low frequency sound source used for velocity model building which improves imaging beneath salt layers. The presentation will focus on the Survey and Positioning elements of the survey and how the installation of dedicated communications allowed for monitoring, navigation oversight and some operational tasks to be performed from onshore.

Speaker Bio: Ian Dootson

Ian graduated from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne in the UK in 1989, after which he joined Brown and Root Survey in Aberdeen. Brown and Root Survey merged with other companies and became Subsea 7 where Ian worked offshore as Party Chief until 2003, mostly supporting pipelay operations in North Sea, West of Shetland and GoM. In 2003 Ian relocated to Houston and worked onshore as a Project Surveyor for Subsea 7. After a short spell with UTEC, Ian joined bp in 2007 where he provides Survey & Positioning support for seismic, drilling, construction and inspection operations in the western hemisphere.
