You are cordially invited to the THSOA Midwest Chapter Wokshop & Meeting taking place Friday October 13, 2017 at Northwestern Michigan College. 

NOTE:

At approx. 10am Northwestern Michigan College, R2Sonic and QPS will be hosting on the water demonstrations of multi-beam systems and software for anyone interested.  These will take place on the R/V Northwestern docked at the Hagerty Center. 

The demonstrations will continue through approx. 5pm.  At 6pm the THSOA meeting will begin with a meal and drinks.  Around 7pm we will begin to discuss some chapter business to settle on the date and location of the first 2018 meeting, scholarships and treasurers report.  At 8pm the night will conclude with a presentation by Roy Forsyth of Collins Engineers of the following:

Michigan City Archeological Shipwreck Surveys Using Multi-beam Sonar – Roy Forsyth of Collins Engineers will demonstrate how multi-beam sonar was recently used to document existing conditions of Lake Michigan’s historical shipwrecks near Michigan City, IN.   The data gathered was used for educational outreach initiatives and will also serve as a baseline for monitoring future deterioration.

 
All THSOA members and interested Hydrographers / Oceanographers / Surveyors are welcome. Non-members are welcome and encouraged to join. If you need to renew or would like to gain membership then please go online at

Indoor Exhibit Spaces:

There will be some options for indoor spaces where you will be able to exhibit your companies equipment, services, software or other introductions to interested parties along with a protected dock space where on-the-water demo’s could be performed as well.  If you are interested in participating please contact James Dunkley so that he can coordinate with the college.
