We are proud to announce that for the 72nd Multibeam Sonar Training Course hosted by UNB-OMG/UNH-CCOM in New Orleans, we received 42 scholarship applications. A drawing will be held for the scholarship at the Houston Chapter's 2016 Holiday Dinner & Scholarship Presentation on December 8th, 2016 at Omni Houston Hotel. Winners will be notified by December 12th.
THSOA is awarding three (3) scholarships to the 72nd Multibeam Sonar Training Course hosted by UNB-OMG/UNH-CCOM.
The scholarship is available to our student members or recent graduate members. The scholarship for this training course only covers course materials and lunch for 6 days. Accommodations & travel is not included.

To be eligible for the scholarship, you must:
- Be a student or recent graduate (within three years).
- Be a THSOA member in good standing.
- Submit your application via the link above which includes submitting a paragraph answer to THSOA on why you should attend the Multibeam Sonar Training Course.
THSOA would like to express our thanks to the organizers of the Multibeam Sonar Training Course for their generous donation. They graciously donated a course registration to THSOA. THSOA also purchased two additional registrations for the scholarship.
The 72nd UNB-OMG/UNH-CCOM Multibeam Sonar Training Course will be held from January 9th, 2017 thru January 14th 2017 at the Bourbon Orleans Hotel in New Orleans, LA. Course information can be found online at www.hydrometrica.com/wp/multibeam-courses.
This six-day, 36-lecture course is designed to provide a theoretical and practical background in marine swath survey technology and techniques for hydrographic surveys, continental shelf boundary delimitation, offshore engineering, harbour dredging, fisheries habitat, route survey and scientific research, and provides overviews of:
- the technology and problems associated with shallow water multibeam surveys,
- processing and visualization techniques designed to address the complexities of swath mapping,
- constraints on using swath bathymetry to produce highest quality data.

The registration fee is $3,750, which includes course materials and lunch for 6 days, but not accommodation.
A block of 40 rooms is reserved for the couse at the Bourbon Orleans Hotel, and the reservation cut-off date is December 8, 2016. The Government per diem rate will apply to those with government ID. When you register we will provide further information to allow you to book rooms for the course.
