The Hydrographic Society of America - West Coast Chapter would like to invite you to join us for our January Meeting. On 28th January (Thursday) beginning at 6:00pm, the THSOA-WCC will have an informal gathering of Hydrographers in Seattle, Washington at the Admiral’s House. The venue is sponsored by Global Seas.

This informal event follows the NOAA Field Procedures  Workshop (which wraps up on Thursday at 5pm).

All THSOA members and interested Hydrographers / Oceanographers / Surveyors are welcome. Non-members are welcome and encouraged to join. If you need to renew or would like to gain membership then please go online at www.thsoa.org/join-us.

The focus of this event is to unite all involved in hydrography (directly or peripherally). It is informal and social in nature.

Registration is important so that sufficient food and beverages may be ordered in advance.

Greenland Survey Operations & Satellite Based Vessel Tracking System by Chris Kemp, Terrasond
This presentation will provide an overview of the scientific objectives, highlight the operations and introduce a unique satellite based vessel tracking system that can have applications for remote and local projects.

Marine Induced Polarization Rapid Minerals and Contaminant Mapping by Curtis Clement, Williamson & Assoc.
Induced Polarization (“IP”) is simply resistivity that changes with frequency and is a method long used on land for minerals prospecting. Williamson continues to work with the USGS to develop this method into a useful tool in the marine mapping; for both minerals and contaminants that react to electric fields.

Submaran: Modernizing Ocean Data Collection by Tim Kearns, Ocean Aero
This presentation will highlight how true autonomous ocean data collection can augment or replace existing methods for less time, money and risk. Ocean Aero’s Submaran is disruptive technology that has the potential to modernize and revolutionize the way data is collected and delivered globally.

CARIS Onboard Overview by Burns Foster, CARIS

5 Year Review - 'Fairweather in the Artic' by LTJG Bart Buesseler, NOAA
Review of NOAA ship ‘Fairweather’ arctic work over the past five years focusing specifically on last field season's arctic work.

Surveying the California Aqueduct by David Neff, ETrac
