In this role you will be required to work with specialized hydrographic and marine geophysical instrumentation systems performing inspections, diagnosis, minor repairs, and maintenance of equipment including managing small fabrication projects. Responsible for preparing and organizing equipment systems safely and efficiently for mobilization and demobilization, according to project requirements and agreed upon procedures. ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION: Bathymetrists receive, analyze, and deconflict U.S. and foreign bathymetric data for use by the Intelligence Community (IC) and external customers. They populate and maintain data and metadata in the bathymetry database, ensuring the accuracy of metadata pertaining to collection source platforms and depth recording devices. They also provide customers with conflated and corrected mission-specific data.

Saildrone is seeking an experienced Bathymetry Data Manager (BDM) to develop internal processes, procedures, and infrastructure for acquisition, post-processing, and management of bathymetric data. You will be part of a talented, collaborative team at the forefront of exciting new ventures in the autonomous vehicle space.
As a Bathymetry Data Manager (BDM) your responsibilities will include development and integration of an end-to-end data management system for bathymetry and associated data acquired by Saildrone’s fleet of autonomous vehicles. In addition, you will be responsible for post-processing of collected data, including single-beam sonar, multibeam sonar, sound velocity profiles, and GNSS data. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Instituting, configuring and maintaining cloud-based solutions for data processing, management, and access

The University of Southern Mississippi’s School of Ocean Science and Engineering (SOSE), is offering a position in hydrographic science at the tenure-track, Assistant Professor level for the hydrographic science academic programs offered through the Division of Marine Science (DMS) at the NASA John C. Stennis Space Center (SSC). A successful candidate is expected to conduct an active research program and participate in the hydrographic science degree programs including the masters and bachelor’s programs, which are recognized at the Category-A (Cat-A) and Category-B (Cat-B) levels, respectively, by the International Hydrographic Organization. The latter efforts include curricula review, delivery and development of the program, and faculty experience in delivering a Cat-A hydrographic science curricula is highly desirable. There is also the opportunity for advisement of students pursuing the hydrographic science emphasis area in the Marine Science PhD program.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
USM is a regionally, nationally and internationally recognized leader in marine science. The School of Ocean Science and Engineering, combined with 5 research vessels and research centers focused on hydrography, marine and coastal sciences and fisheries provides an exceptional research and education environment for our students. DMS is home to an interdisciplinary program of graduate and undergraduate study and research in marine environments. Sixteen on-site faculty conduct research and teach courses in biological oceanography, marine chemistry, geological oceanography, physical oceanography, remote sensing, numerical modeling, ocean engineering and hydrography to ~50 full-time graduate students at SSC and ~40 undergraduates at the USM Gulf Park campus. The Division offers Marine Science B.S. (with a CAT-B hydrographic science emphasis option), M.S. and Ph.D. degrees (including a Ph.D. with hydrography emphasis), Hydrographic Science M.S. (Cat-A) and B.S. in Ocean Engineering. Located at SSC, DMS is strategically situated at the single largest concentration of oceanographers and hydrographers in the world. Faculty interact with research scientists at government agencies located on site and at the Joint Airborne Lidar Bathymetry Center of Excellence (JALBTCX) including the Naval Oceanographic Office, Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command (CNMOC), Naval Research Laboratory (NRL-SSC), USACE, NOAA, USGS, and NASA.
Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in hydrographic science, marine science, geomatics engineering, ocean engineering, or closely related field. Applicants will have demonstrated field and research experience, including a publication record in acoustic based hydrographic and bathymetric surveying, precise positioning at sea, and preferably experience in bathymetric LIDAR collection and processing. Proficiency in commercial software packages used to collect and process hydrographic data is expected. Also desirable is an interest in applying hydrographic technologies to collaborative opportunities in marine science, including biological, chemical, physical, geological and fisheries oceanography.

TerraSond is looking to add a Survey Technician to the team, the successful candidate must be based in mainland United States & be willing to travel within the United States as required.
The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting surveying and mapping duties under the supervision of a Project Manager or more senior Survey Technicians. They will verify the accuracy of collected data, and prepares data, charts, plots, maps, records, documents and deliverables related to the survey. They may also conduct ADCP mooring configuration, surface navigation, LBL, USBL, geophysical and seismic data collection The Survey Technician is also required to serve as a member of the vessel crew as needed.
This role will involve working in a combination of office and field environments. Field work is performed outdoors and may take place in inclement weather and extreme temperatures. Hydrographic survey work requires working at sea for extended periods of time and may require living and working in close, cramped quarters. Both field and office work require occasional heavy lifting of survey equipment. Responsibilities may require an adjusted work schedule, long days, and evening/weekend hours in order to meet project deadlines. Extensive travel is required.
